  • We stumbled upon Friar Tuck’s Tavern on a busy evening in Mystic when nearly every other restaurant required reservations or had long wait times. What a lucky find! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. The service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and efficient without being overbearing. It felt like the kind of place where the team actually enjoys working together and taking care of guests. The ambiance at Friar Tuck’s strikes a perfect balance between laid-back and lively. With its cozy medieval-inspired décor, warm lighting, and inviting atmosphere, it felt like a hidden gem amidst the tourist crowds. Whether you’re just stopping in for drinks or looking for a full meal, it’s the kind of spot you’ll want to return to. With so many places in Mystic packed or booked solid, this place not only saved our night—it made it. The food at Friar Tuck’s Tavern was just as impressive as the service and ambiance. Everything we ordered was flavorful and well-prepared, but the standout dish by far was the mussels. They were incredibly fresh, cooked to perfection, and served in a rich, savory broth that we couldn’t stop dipping our bread into. It’s clear the kitchen takes pride in using quality ingredients and bold flavors. If you visit, I highly recommend the mussels—you won’t be disappointed.

  • We came here on 3/26/24. This place is pretty awesome! Irish music was playing, it's a smaller place. The environment was great! They have outdoor seating for the warmer months. It's very clean in here, including the bathrooms. The food was absolutely delicious! It came out quick, and did not disappoint, at all! We got the Calamari, Fish & Chips, and the Mac & Cheese covered with Pulled Pork. We inhaled the Calamari! Likely the best we have ever had (seriously!). The Fish had a great flavor to the breading, and Fish itself was very moist and tender! The Mac & Cheese was very cheesy, and pulled pork was so very good! We also got 3 beers each. They use BeerMenus.com as their tap list. They don't have a physical copy, and unfortunately, the site was down while we were there. But, I told the bartender, who was also awesome (very attentive and social), what kind of beer we liked, and he delivered great choices! They have a good selection of beer on tap, too! Bottom line is, we loved this place! Can't wait to come back! We are not from the area, but this has been marked as a "return to" place, for us!

  • Absolutely fell in love with this tavern in Mystic’s downtown! This was the first place we had ever tried a scotch egg and we really enjoyed it! All of the food was delicious, and they had a solid corned beef Reuben. We visited while they had their winter cocktail specials and they were so adorable!! Such a cozy spot that we will definitely keep in mind for future visits to Mystic!

  • Great food, atmosphere and location. My family and I ate here twice in a long weekend because we had such a good meal the first time and the second time lived up to expectations. The best thing we ate was the BBQ pulled pork mac and cheese. It was absolutely delicious; the pork was so tasty and the combination of the creamy cheese sauce with the BBQ sauce was delightful. The Bavarian pretzels are a perfect portion for sharing with your table and the cheese dipping sauce was excellent. The kids menu had standard options and nice portions. The place was hopping on a Thursday evening and had such a fun vibe with the bartenders interacting personably with customers.

  • An absolute great atmosphere, food, and drink! There were muscles, cheese curds, Bavarian pretzels, pork belly, Mac n cheese, pulled pork, shepherds pie, and drinks! Everything was yum ! The drinks: Peach Old Fashion (whiskey) The Painkiller (coconut rum slushie!) Pink Bubbles (vodka) Our server was Pamela and she was quite fun! We spent about $50 pp including tax and a great tip. Live music, great service, great service.

  • We went on a night when there was live music. Very talented young lady. The food is a great experience. Dont be afraid to try something new, it's worth it. I truly enjoyed the short rib grilled cheese. Large portions. Drink were great! Had a lot of fun with the flight of beers. Aiden was an amazing server, good at his job and a great sense of humor. Cute patio to dine on.

  • I'm so glad we stopped here. The Ruben is absolutely delicious. The pulled pork mac n cheese is super good as well. The bar offers every drink worthy whiskey a conisour could want. The bartender was prompt and knowledgeable. 10/10 recommend, and we will revist the next time we come back to Mystic for sure.
